The Stackable Chairs — The Basics: V3 The Basics is a series of stackable chairs that returns to one of the most familiar objects in industrial design. A tribute to the seemingly endless life of the stackable chair, - an object everyone recognises, repeatedly reworked and reproduced by the furniture industry, - it serves as the point of departure for the project. The project examines how design and artistic practice can be applied to one of the simplest chair typologies, without transforming it into anything other than The Basic. Subtle shifts in proportion and construction are used to work within the constraints of an established form. Images by Johan Wirén The Basics: V3 is the third iteration in the series, developed through the previous V1 and V2. All versions are mutually stackable, allowing variations to coexist within the same system. Rather than proposing a single ideal chair, the project suggests that a group of closely related versions may better respond to different bodies, uses, and contexts. The chairs are constructed in oak, with stained birch details, finished in traditional Nordic colours: Faluröd and Copenhagen green.
