The Spineless Chairs, 2023 by Truls Goldschmidt explore the relationship between structure, support and convention, challenging the traditional typology of a chair. Part of the Manifest of Measurements series, the design draws on Bauhaus principles of simplicity, functionality and honest material expression. Made from pine and untreated steel, the chairs are designed to evolve over time as the steel develops a natural patina and traces of rust. Each chair is individually numbered, making every piece unique within the limited edition of two. The chairs were exhibited in The Sonoma Series #1 at Nordiska Galleriet Archives in 2023.
