LOOSE ENDS 001: Maria Montti

Photos: Märta Thisner. By: Leo Forssell

Name: Maria E Montti
 Occupation: Stylist

How would you describe your style?
It’s hard to pin down. It's always shifting. Alive, I’d say. We love rearranging often; just moving a piece of furniture can completely transform the feeling of a room. Same with color, I once leaned toward muted, serene tones, all clean lines and calm. But lately, bold reds and vibrant hues have come creeping in.

How do you define an icon?
Freedom - in voice, in expression.

What is your relationship to furniture?
Stronger than one might think, you live with them. They're not just functional, they’re objects you observe, things your eyes return to every day. Like a piece of art.

What would you never part with?
My wig lamp by Ann-Sofie Back.

Maria Monttii is currently in the process of opening her studio—and in the meantime, you can find her folk-style kurbits cabinet on Used Icons.
